Petition to refund SHSU students for fee’s that are no longer needed due to COVID 19

The Issue

Due to the recent outbreak of COVID-19, SHSU has moved to remote delivery education (online classes). As a result many students are moving home to complete the semester. Sam Houston has offered to refund (in credits not cash) 40% of your on campus housing if you move out before March 30th. 
HOWEVER, we are not being given the option to receive a refund on other resources that we either can no longer have access too due to the virus ( the rec for example or athletic fees [all athletics have been cancelled for the spring semester] ) or no longer NEED. (dining charges, library fee’s). This petition serves as a the voice of the students requesting the president and faculty of Sam Houston State University to refund or deduct unnecessary Fee’s on our tuition statement. The list below are just a FEW of the charges we no longer need to be responsible paying due to the cancellation of on campus involvement and should either be deducted from current outstanding balances and or refunded to students who have already paid.
