Tyler Clancy started this petition to Salt Lake City

Over the past century, the Pioneer Park Neighborhood has served as the gateway to the state for waves of pioneers including Greek, Italian, Japanese, Mexican, and Chinese immigrants, just to name a few. But with shifting priorities and changing demographics, the park fell into disuse and disrepair.

Today, the Pioneer Park neighborhood is a hive of activity. Salt Lake City residents, entrepreneurs, and those experiencing homelessness use the park daily, and visitors flock to signature events like the Twilight Concert Series and the Downtown Farmers Market. Pioneer Park is still the heart and soul of the Rio Grande neighborhood, and now a new generation of pioneers looks to what will come next for these fabled 10 acres.

We believe that the addition of new pickleball courts at Pioneer Park would add an element of fun, inclusivity, diversity, and engagement to the park and the surrounding neighborhood. With Utah already serving as the pickleball hub of the West, we know that new courts would be an instant hit. There is no better sport to incentivize at Pioneer Park, as pickleball truly is a multi-generational and diverse sport. Within just 15 minutes, someone with no knowledge of the game can be informed and playing with friends, family, and neighbors!

Please sign this petition to help show your support for this proposal. Salt Lake City is currently in the process of getting feedback for the park's future, and this is a great way to show what our city needs!
