Financial Reimbursement for collective loss during this national crisis.

Financial Reimbursement for collective loss during this national crisis.
The Issue
As you may have heard, Salisbury University is closing in accordance to The University System of Maryland’s recommendation for at least a two-week period after spring break and possibly longer. This results in SU students engaging in class work online from home during the University’s closing. SU students however have already paid for not only room and board, but an on campus meal plan along with access to on campus resources and facilities. With Salisbury University’s $208,000,000 budget, and the vast amount of money not spent due to the campus being closed, we ask that a portion of money from the budget is reimbursed to the student body to help with our unexpected expenses. Regardless of the situation we did not pay for online classes, we did not pay for 13 or less weeks of room and board, and we did not pay for 13 or less weeks of access to Commons. We paid the full campus tuition and we hope the University can agree that this unexpected financial burden of now being forced to participate in online classes, eat and live at home, should be shared between Salisbury University and it’s beloved, world renown student body. I hope Salisbury University can agree.
