The FAME statue has been defaming the city of Salisbury, NC for over 100 years, commemorating and celebrating the soldiers who fought in the civil war to uphold the racist agenda of the Constitution of the Confederate States. We can find ways of honoring our ancestors without oppressing our neighbor. In the light of current racial unrest, it has become intolerable as a symbol of our city. It is time to once and for all “De-FAME” our city by moving the statue, and come together to heal racial discrimination and oppression.
