Thank you for your amazing support everyone! I've been in contact with both Salisbury and Wiltshire county councils and both seem open to the idea in theory. The next stage is to discuss costs and locations with the specific council members who have the power to make decisions. One of the questions is whether to aim for a statue in the city centre, where more people will see it day-to-day, or the gardens which are further away, but more picturesque. Another question is who to commission to make it. Of course an ideal option would be the most recent Discworld cover artist and Salisbury local Paul Kidby, who has done smaller sculptural pieces in the past. If we get permission, i'll be approaching him first to see if he'd be interested and how much the commission might cost. I'll post more updates as decisions are made. Mind how you go.
