Save Chat Moss - Remove the Plan to Build 1400 Houses On Our Moss

Save Chat Moss - Remove the Plan to Build 1400 Houses On Our Moss

The Issue

We believe the proposed removal of the Green Belt Status of land between Roscoe Road and New Moss Road in the proposed GMSF should be rejected by Salford City Council for the following reasons:

  •  The proposed development is on presently Greenbelt land and “Grade 1” farmland which is an asset to our area and must be protected for future generations.
  • The historic Irlam/Cadishead Moss has rich and varied wildlife which benefits our area immensely
  • Our local infrastructure itself is ill equipped to support the huge increase in traffic which will in turn lead to additional congestion.
  • The proposal does not answer the housing needs of the local or wider area and does nothing to address the greater needs of regenerating and repopulating declining town centres.
  • During the COVID-19 Crisis the local Mossland is being heavily used by local people for walking, cycling and running. It is a great asset towards helping maintain the physical and mental health of our residents and once it is gone it is gone for ever.
