AARD Action Against Rural Development started this petition to Salford City Council
It is being proposed that Green Belt be declassified this is Grade 1 Farmland.
The site is on Chat Moss and is a very rich peatland habitat
The proposal is to build 800 houses which will only have 2 small access roads and all traffic will join the already crowded roads in Irlam and Cadishead
There is to be no improvement to existing infrastructure
If we lose there will be 1600 extra vehicles on our local roads
An important agricultural resourse will be lost for ever
There will be habitats and wildlife lost for ever
There is a no true acknowledgement of the carbon cost to destroying all this peatland
