Do you think Salford Council should have a wildlife protection programme ?

The Issue

Here , at the S a l f o r d  W i l d l i f e group , we think Salford City Council have had an almost dormant attitude towards wildlife issues in their city , which appears to have filtered through the whole of their structures .

It was only until recently that they agreed to a point a council wildlife champion , in councillor Lewis Nelson . A role that is completely voluntary , a role that S a l f o r d  W i l d l i f e had to ask for . It must be made clear that Salford Council never thought to appoint one .

It can not be right that one councillor should have to shoulder the burden of responsibility , having to rely of wildlife community interest groups alone ?

For far to long wildlife in Salford has been seen as an afterthought , accompanied with an out of sight out of mind attitude . The recent disgusting event at RHS Bridgewater only serves to highlight this inept viewpoint .

It is about time Salford Council as a whole , stepped up to the plate and became far more pro-active in protecting the wildlife in their city , they are residents and are entitled to protection .

We ask you to sign this petition , and contribute to a better future for all of us , thank you.
