No HIKE in FEES and kindly charge only TUITION FEES with an EXTENSION in Payment Date
The Issue
To the Principal,
Salesian College Management and other concerned authorities,
As we all are well aware about the on-going pandemic and the poor scenario it has created for all of us, especially in terms of financial conditions, we would like to put forward a request to the concerned authorities to give FAIR concession in the fee structure. We want our fee structure to be organized in a manner where we only have to pay for the part for which the benefits can be duly served to us, and not the unjustifiable expenses.
Considering the fact, that the last installment that was paid, hasn't benefitted us in any manner and has been a loss to us, we would like you to kindly make changes in the fee structure(just like before) such that we only have to (at max) pay our tuition fees.
Salesian College’s fees is really high and students need time as well as compensation for the fess to be paid. Given that none of us are using most of the facilities of provided by the college, the reason to pay the full fees is completely illogical.
Some of the facilities students are not using, includes:
1) Not accessing classrooms and labs, which reduces a huge amount of electricity bill.
2) Water and electricity charges
3) Unlimited wifi fees, which again reduces huge amount
4) Library access
5)Examination fee
6) Extra curricular activities or resources like sports ground, outdoor stadium, etc.
7) Air-conditioned labs and smart classrooms and galleries
8) Other technology usage fees
And, numerous other fees, which is coming to Salesian as profit only. There is no point for students to pay full fees.
Even the government and education minister has reminded the organizations many times that they should not force students or members to pay fees or other amounts quickly and reduce them as much as possible. Many universities have extended and reduced fees to ensure the betterment of their students.
Significantly, the Union ministry of human resource development has received a series of requests and demands from different quarters to address the issue of institutions demanding fees both in school and higher education sector.(Hindustan Times)
We expect this from Salesian College that it takes the below necessary decisions as it claims to be one of the finest Colleges in Siliguri and provide help to students to build their career. So, if students are not able to pay fees and complete their degree, their career would be at risk or it will end. It may promote many of them to make wrong and dangerous decisions due to mental and financial pressure. Our Parents have not been vocal about it, but as children we have our responsibilities, not only towards the college but also towards them for they are the reason why we stand here today.
Hoping for a fair change in the structure, which can be justified on the parts of both, the institution as well as the students.
