Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Salem State University has been forced to implement online courses in the form Asynchronous and Synchronous. It is too dangerous for students and faculty to be in larger in person gatherings. We, the students, have found it extremely difficult to concentrate on our courses during this time and feel a large amount of pressure coming from classwork. We feel our grades will be greatly effected and believe changing to a system of pass/fail would help thousands of students. Especially since Salem State has a large amount of students who are effected in different ways as well from their personal lives blending with school. This being mentally, financially and many other ways. Other colleges and universities have already had this system implemented because it seems reasonable to give students the option. We hope this reaches to our administration so they can help us make a change. This is an extremely hard time for everyone and we would love to work together in order to create a better environment for us all. Mental health is extremely important and a pass/fail could really help.
