Why this petition matters

The undercover police inquiry was set up in 2015 by Theresa May after it was revealed that undercover political police units had been targeting movements for change and justice. Including anti-racist campaigners, blacklisted workers, environmentalists, social justice campaigners, family justice campaigns and MP's. Since 1968 over 1000 groups have been spied upon. #spycops employed a range of disgusting tactics including deceiving women into long term relationships with undercover officers, with full knowledge of their supervisors. The inquiry is supposed to get to the truth of the scale and character of political policing but has so far been held back by police delays, secrecy and derailment.
We are calling on Sajid Javid to;
INSTRUCT a panel of experts to assist the Chair
• EXTEND the inquiry to include Scotland
• DISCLOSE the cover names of the officers, the names of the
groups they spied on and RELEASE the personal files of victims
Help us get access to justice.
Dear Home Secretary,
You are now responsible for the Undercover Policing Inquiry which
was set up to examine institutional sexism and racism at the heart
of the police.
The public inquiry is in danger of collapsing due to
secrecy and derailment.
We urge you to listen to the victims and:
• INSTRUCT a panel of experts to assist the Chair
• EXTEND the inquiry to include Scotland
• DISCLOSE the cover names of the officers, the names of the
groups they spied on and RELEASE the personal files of victims
Please don’t let them down.
