The CDC has recently issued a state of emergency due to the Coronavirus(medically known as COVID-19), which has taken the whole world into shock. Recently, there has been numerous cases of people infected with the virus around the Bay Area, leading to the cancelation of inperson class sessions in over 13 Colleges around the Bay Area-- including UC Berkeley and Stanford. 

We would like to petition to have classes be changed to Online format until at least Spring Break-- similar to how UC Berkeley is dealing with the situation-- mainly because:

1) We do not want to have the risk of being exposed to the Virus, especially since not much research has been made on the Virus.

2) According to past cases, the main people who the Virus can negatively impact are Elderly people. We do not want our professors to risk their lives.

3) Commuter Students are currently the ones who have to risk their health in order to get to campus. They can contract the virus through mediums of transportation such as Carpool services, Bus, and BART-- especially since BART goes through cities in which people were found infected with the disease with unknown information as to from who they got infected. By us having online classes, commuter students will be able to stay safe from potentially dangerous exposures.
