Save Outdoor Sports Fields from greedy property developers

We are starting a national campaign to Save Outdoor Sports Fields from speculative property developers. Grass playing pitches are a vital national asset, part of our countries Green Infrastructure and crucial to our physical health, mental wellbeing and protecting our natural environment. Some things in life are just wrong, building on playing fields is one of them.
Government National Planning Policy is clear "playing fields should not be built on". However, some aggressive property developers are buying playing fields, which have a negligible commercial value as community run playing fields are a "break-even" operation, and hoping to wear down Planning Policy. (for example Udney Park, Teddington). If a developer steam-rollers Policy it can result in a Planning uplift from circa £50,000 per acre as a grass pitch to up-to £20,000,000 per acre for a building plot.
Local sports clubs often have waiting lists for junior members, our kids need more Space to Play. Once a playing field is concreted over it is lost forever. Outdoor recreation and volunteer-run amateur clubs build up our communities and improve our long term health. Please sign our petition to ensure property developers are NEVER given permission to build on pitches however much they spend "engaging communities" and appealing against Policy and play your part to Save Outdoor Sports Fields.
