Stop breed-specific policy and the murder of dogs

On July 20, 2012, Saginaw County Animal Care Center murdered three dogs.

They were not sick. They were not aggressive. Their only crime: being labelled a pit bull.

Thousands of dogs are euthanized each year at Saginaw County Animal Care Center. Many of those dogs are strays whose only chance at a new life is to be transferred to a different shelter or rescue organization. Why? Because they are or even just look like pit bulls. Saginaw County Animal Care euthanizes any dog it labels a "pit bull" once it is past its 7-day stray hold.
Are these dogs truly pit bulls? Often, no. Are pit bulls naturally aggressive or vicious dogs? No! According to the American Temperament Test Society, nearly 87% American Pit Bull passed temperaments tests--a higher percentage than dozens of dog breeds.
Saginaw County Animal Care is knowingly and carelessly murdering pit bulls and pit bull-looking dogs. This must stop. We must allow them to give ALL dogs a chance! End breed-specific policy in Saginaw!
