SAVE the SILVER FORK! Don't destroy a family tradition to fuel your profits

The Issue

I strongly object to the proposed redevelopment and master use project # 3012340 being considered by Safeway and the City of Seattle. The leveling of Silver Fork and replacing it with a gas station is by no way an improvement to the community but a tearing apart of one. Silver Fork is not just a restaurant, it is an institution of the Rainier Valley community. A place where the recipe is not just made up of great food, but of friendships between families, neighbors, church goers, and civic leaders all coming to sit down together one meal at a time to celebrate the diversity that lives within the 98118 zip code, the most diverse in the country. Silver Fork is an independent family owned business that adds value to Seattle, and to the potential property of Safeway. There is a wide array of redevelopment options in such a large parking lot that is rarely full to accommodate a gas station to fuel our cars, and keep a cherished restaurant that fuels our community’s hearts.
