The Issue

Greetings to all, a few days ago, a distressing incident transpired involving a female advocate who was peacefully seated at a canteen table. Following this, senior advocates approached her, insisting that she vacate the table. Despite her reasonable request for some time to finish her tea, the situation escalated into a distressing display of disrespectful behaviour and harassment. The video capturing this incident has since gone viral, shedding light on the pervasive challenges faced by advocates, particularly women, within the legal community.
In the aftermath of this event, numerous advocates have stepped forward, sharing similar instances of mistreatment from various parts of India. This collective testimony underscores the urgent need for systemic change. In response, we are launching a campaign aimed at compelling the government to prioritize the safety and well-being of young and female advocates within court premises. We advocate for the implementation of laws that specifically address and prevent such harassment, creating an environment where more first-generation women and young advocates can pursue a career in law without apprehension.
By addressing these issues head-on, we aspire to bring about lasting change, ensuring that the legal profession becomes a welcoming and secure space for advocates of all backgrounds and demographics. Together, let us work towards a future where justice prevails not only in the courtroom but also in the very spaces where justice is pursued.
