In 2015 there were 12 reported acts of sexual assault in Albert Park, Middlesbrough, 12 isn't a large number, but it's 12 too many. We and hopefully the local community have decided that it is now time to act upon this. To fight back we have decided to create this petition to attempt to convince Middlesbrough Council that more lights should be installed in Albert Park, this will allow people to see any potentially threatening people before it's too late. We are aware that not all attacks happened at night and some occured during broad daylight, and so we would also like more security cameras to be installed, allowing the perpetrators to be more easily identified and the right action can be taken. Nobody deserves to be sexually, physically or mentally assaulted, or raped. They are sensitive topics and are easily and regularly pushed away by the general public and this needs to stop. If this doesn't happen people will continue to suffer, in ways no person deserves to, if this does happen, we can help many young and old people to feel safe and secure. Sexual assault is no joke, and neither is rape. Its time to #LightItUp
