FROM RICK NYS @ PBOT:
What: NE Prescott/NE 7th Avenue all-way stop trial. Temporary conversion from signalized intersection to all-way stop control. Traffic signal will operate in all red flash and temporary stop signs will be added. During that time, PBOT will monitor delay, queues, diversion and any comments. PBOT has done some analysis of both the AM and PM peak hours and delays/queues of course will increase on NE Prescott, but still at an acceptable level. At the end of the one month trial period, there are three options:
1 / End the trial, convert the intersection to all-way stop control and consider removal of the traffic signal.
2 / Continue the trial and gather additional information.
3 / End the trial and return the intersection to traffic signal operation.
When: One month duration. Start date likely in September will be coordinated with the Sabin Neighborhood Association prior to implementation. Comments on the trial can be made on this petition site or by contacting PBOT directly.
Why: PBOT has heard concerns about speed issues on Prescott and conducted an analysis of this corridor and intersection and found that this intersection does not necessarily require traffic signal control and does not meet “traffic signal warrants.”
