Implore PBOT to implement crucial Safety Improvements at NE 7th & Prescott

As a concerned parent who walks my two-year-old daughter and dog across this intersection daily, I am deeply troubled by the ongoing dangerous conditions at NE 7th & Prescott. Crashes occur regularly, often resulting in total vehicular damage. These are not just minor fender benders. These are serious wrecks where cars are rendered non-operable, ending up on the sidewalk, and placing bystanders at great risk.

The most recent crash was a T-bone caused by a driver trying to 'make' a red-light. The traffic light incentivizes dangerous decision making and the speeds along Prescott are too damn high.  

This intersection is not just a part of our daily routine, but also a 'Safe Route to School' for many children attending MLK Jr or catching the school bus at the corner. It's a tragedy waiting to happen if nothing is done to improve the situation.

We call on the Portland Bureau of Transportation to implement urgent safety measures at this critical intersection. It's time for the safety of our children, pedestrians, bicyclists and even motorists to be prioritized. Your signature can help make this a reality, and prevent a foreseeable tragedy in the future.
