Happy New Year everyone. Hope 2021 is positive in every way.

While the weather has been overcast lately, we were fortunate in that we haven't had to deal with the excessive speeding and noise. However, forecasts for sunnier weather will be bringing motorists/motorcyclists out over the coming days/weeks and beyond.

We continue to speak with Government members, Council and the Police but YOUR input is needed for them to take this more seriously.

A reminder on what you can do to report any excessive speeding and/or noise:

- Call 000.
Note that many think this is pulling away resources from emergencies. The Police and others have all confirmed that this is the right number. Calls to the local station are routed through 000 so it is better to call directly. It also means that the 000 line can keep a record of complaints and concerns. The more people call, the more this will be understood to be a serious issue. If you think someone else will be calling and your call won't be deemed important, think again. I am told that St Kilda have greater resourcing because their numbers into 000 merited this.

- Record video and/or registration numbers.
Registration numbers of vehicles can be provided to the Police or reported to Crimestoppers (1800 333 000 or online). I have also set up an email address (portroadsafety@gmail.com) where I am compiling videos and will make sure content is given to the appropriate authorities. Please send anything through.

I am told there are greater resources around our area but the problem is not improving in any way. Until I see less speeding, disregard for the traffic rules and reduced noise, I will continue to hold the relevant authorities accountable so that we don't put lives at risk.

Please share this petition with others who may not have yet signed it and ensure that they know how to report their concerns.

I'll continue to update with any progress made....In the meantime, please don't hesitate to reach out with any further information I should be made aware of.

All the best,

Louisa
