After reviewing the concerns raised, the city went out and inspected the park. They confirmed a significant amount of glass in the fill dirt and are now taking action. In the coming weeks, they’ll be cleaning through the top several inches of soil and re-seeding the area with a deeper-rooting grass variety better suited for long-term durability.
The city, of course, shared our concerns and responded quickly. While the park has been temporarily reduced in size, it’s a small sacrifice for our pets’ safety and a better space for both current and future residents.
We want to sincerely thank the Glendale Parks Department for taking this seriously and committing to a real solution. It’s a great example of what can happen when residents and local officials work together.
Thank you to everyone who signed, shared, and supported this effort. This outcome belongs to all of you.
