Safeguard UK's Fishing Rights from Being Ceded to EU by Labour Government

Safeguard UK's Fishing Rights from Being Ceded to EU by Labour Government
The Issue
I am a concerned citizen who strongly believes in the sovereignty of my nation's resources. Like me, millions across the country voted to leave the European Union, a decision not made lightly but with a profound understanding of the potential implications and opportunities for our nation.
Since our departure from the EU, our fishing industry has regained control over UK waters allowing for growth, sustainability and independent operation. However, the Labour government's proposal to surrender our fishing rights and reimpose EU law poses a grave threat to this crucial sector of our economy.
Did you know that the UK fishing industry generates over £1.4 billion annually, and employs around 24,000 people? (UK Government, 2020) This industry, which is a lifeline for many coastal communities, is expected to grow and flourish post-Brexit. Yet this growth is at risk if we surrender our rights.
Handing over control of our waters back to the EU would not only go against the democratic decision of the populace but could also lead to job losses, damage local economies and undermine the sustainability of our fishing stocks.
I call upon everyone who values our sovereignty, supports local economies, and respects democratic choices, to join me in urging the Labour government to refrain from ceding our fishing rights or submitting to EU law. This is not about party politics, but the future of our country. Sign this petition and let us stand together in protecting our nation's resources.
