Thank you to everyone who has signed my petition so far. We’ve now reached **62 views** and **5 new signatures**, which is a small but important step towards the change we need.
This petition isn't just about numbers. It’s about **real lives at risk**, and about **honoring my abuela**, Evelyn J. Mardis, whose foresight and compassion in 2014–2015 led her to suggest something long before anyone else was talking about it: the need for a dedicated place of care and support for pilots in crisis.
**Tragically, pilot-induced fatalities, including intentional crashes, have become a leading cause of airline deaths.** Between 2011 and 2023, these incidents have claimed the lives of hundreds of people, often without warning, and without the support systems pilots need to prevent such tragedies.
My abuela *saw* the need — after the tragedy of MH370, she said, “We need a place to put them in.” And now, I am fighting to make that vision a reality with the **Evelyn J. Mardis Memorial Forensic Hospital**. This hospital would provide **specialized mental health care and forensic evaluations** for pilots, ensuring both their safety and the safety of those they serve in the skies.
We’re still early in this journey, but I’m grateful for every signature, every share, and every word of encouragement I’ve received so far. I believe, as my abuela did, that **now is the time** — and with your continued support, we can make this crucial change happen.
If you haven’t signed yet, please do so today. And if you’ve already signed, I ask that you please share this petition with your network so we can build momentum. Let’s **do our part** and keep moving towards a safer future for pilots and passengers alike.
Thank you for your support,
K.C. Mardis
