The intersection of S. 2nd Street  and S. Irving Street is unsafe, especially during the rush hour. Each day more than 100 students pass through the intersection on their way to Thomas Jefferson Middle School.  With the construction of Fleet Elementary School, the traffic patterns have changed. During the planning process, the county indicated that traffic issues along the 2nd St corridor would be addressed, but they have not.  This intersection needs to be made safe for our children and other pedestrians immediately. We are asking the county to: 1-Place a crossing guard at that intersection prior to school and at dismissal 2- make the intersection a 4-way stop OR install a traffic light.
