A very BIG, thank you to all that have already signed this petition.
Please share with family, friends and any dignitaries you know, this topic needs more attention, that is why I changed the heading to grab attention.
Compassion, empathy, respect, we want a quality of life, it isn't a lot to ask for, give us FREE OVERNIGHT RESPITE for our loved ones, then we are better able to look after them and ourselves.
We the UNPAID CAREGIVERS need a break. We need FREE OVERNIGHT RESPITE for our loved ones. We UNPAID CAREGIVERS need to recharge our spiritual, emotional, physical, psychological batteries. The free recharging OVERNIGHT respite needs to be an on an ongoing basis, not a one-off, to provide the care our loved ones deserve without us running out of patience.
We are not robots.
We are directing attention to the ongoing mental, emotional, spiritual, physical, psychological and financially draining situation we are struggling and trying to survive in. We, UNPAID CAREGIVERS, have to deal with these stresses on a daily basis.
Seriously is it fair that, because we care about our loved ones and want the best care for them and have them to stay at home as long as possible, in their own home environment?
Seriously is it fair that we are killing ourselves in the process? Caregiver stress has the same ramifications as PTSD with caregivers dying of cancer, depression, anxiety, strokes, heart attack, dementia, Parkinson's, weight gain, weight loss, sleeping disorders, etc., etc.
We, UNPAID CAREGIVERS, give so much of our love, patience, effort and time to our loved ones we forget to look after ourselves and our own health suffers.
Seriously is it fair that we are to be ignored by the local, regional, provincial and federal governments and are left to fend for ourselves and loved ones only accessing respite ONLY if we have enough funds to cover the costs ourselves? Respite per day costs between $40 - $100 a day ???
Last year we saved the governments over TWENTY-NINE BILLION DOLLARS, by providing UNPAID CAREGIVING.
Seriously is it fair that we hope to get a LINH care coordinator that actually cares, and does not just do it because it is their job?
Compassion, empathy, respect, we want a quality of life, it isn't a lot to ask for, give us FREE OVERNIGHT RESPITE for our loved ones, then we are better able to look after them and ourselves.
