The COVID-19 crisis is sadly getting worse. We all need to step up and take measures to distance ourselves from others to halt the spread of the disease. For some however, this isn’t possible. Emergency services and NHS personnel are just some of those essential public sector workers who must carry on for the benefit of others and they need to be protected. Despite regular and more thorough cleaning, public transport is a perfect place to transmit the disease. Multiple people close together, enclosed in metal tubes and boxes, touching surfaces as they travel. To this extent we call upon the Mayor of London and TfL to suspend the London Congestion and ULEZ charges during the COVID-19 crisis for essential public sector workers to make it easier and safer for them to get to work, for the benefit of everyone.
