Last year thousands of healthy mature trees were cut down because property developers and London councils don't think local people care about their local mature trees.

We do care and we are asking Sadiq Khan to make all London councils adopt this tree strategy.

Mature healthy trees over 20 years old MUST be protected and all new building projects MUST be designed around the existing mature trees.

We need our to keep our trees AND build new homes for people to live in . Trees are important  . - they are the lungs of our City . Every year 9,400 people die prematurely because of pollution. The felling of so many trees will undoubtedly result in a further reduction in air quality.

Size matters .. destroying healthy mature trees and planting saplings doesn't work . It takes decades for trees to mature and do the job of absorbing and cleaning our air - time Londoners just don't have.

I live in Wandsworth which has 4 of the 10 most polluted hot spots in London. The council has repeatedly sold off green spaces and planned new buildings that have involved the unnecessary felling of hundreds of trees. I have seen first hand the devastation when a huge, healthy tree - a treasured part of the community for over 60 years -was chopped  down because it's in the way of some electrical cables ...

This is not an extraordinary request.. we have the trees right here right now .. and London's air is in serious trouble.
Lets make our Mayor commit to STOP THE CHOP! Trees can, and should be, at the centre of any new development in our city.
