Petition to Open a Joan Didion Museum in Sacramento

The Issue

Joan Didion has long been an unspoken talisman of Sacramento, and arguably the most significant person of the twentieth century to hail from the city. Yet she is frequently tied solely to "California" or "Los Angeles." Worse still, "New York." It's time that the capital recognizes Didion's value not only as a literary titan, but as someone who wrote about Sacramento (most notably in her debut, Run River) with romantic verve. It would be of great cultural value to the City of Sacramento to have a museum honoring her work, as well as a means to reinvigorate passion for literature in the town.
