This could happen to any of us. On the 2nd of November 2015 two much loved family pets named Holly and Biggie managed to escape from their owner’s Pat and Alena Wharram's home in Banksia Grove Perth, Western Australia. Their worried owner posted them as lost on a face book group for lost and found animals, and animal control was alerted but police also became involved due to unproven allegations made about the dog's behaviour by a member of the public. Holly was caught and impounded the other dog Holly's son a Staffordshire bull terrier named Biggie made his way to the suburb of Kinross. At some point a police officer located him and the following occurred.

CCTV footage of the incident clearly shows the dog trying to pass by the officer who chose to block Biggie's path. Biggie then in a submissive manner Biggie sat in front of the police officer who chose to shoot him dead although being shown no aggression, as proven by the footage taken at the time. The police officer could have notified the rangers of Biggie’s location and monitored the dog until they arrived and caught the dog in a professional and safe manner.

No unnecessary firing of a deadly weapon in a built up suburban street would have occurred and darling Biggie would have been safely secured. Instead his owner Pat Wharram, who considers his dogs as family members, is devastated by the loss.  Police lied to Biggie’s owner Pat claiming the dog had attacked so the officer shot the dog to protect himself. Police officials later claimed that the dog’s aggressive nature was not captured on camera. But as footage surfaced Pat saw for himself that his boy Biggie didn't show signs of aggression, he was wagging his tail then sat in front of the officer who then gunned him down.

This is an outrage the police officer possibly fearful, due to the breed of the dog which is unfounded, is far more risk in a community than Biggie was. Shooting a weapon is a danger to any community and should be done so when all other measures have been taken. Police Australia wide need to follow appropriate procedure and allow animal control to do their job they are trained for under such circumstances. We as a nation and people beyond Australia are outraged and WE WANT JUSTICE FOR BIGGIE and Pat and Alena Wharram & Holly. Our dogs are a part of our family. R.I.P Biggie

News footage on the story WARNING it is still sickening to watch.

There are face book groups set up to show support for Biggie's family and to provide information about walks for the cause around the nation.

Public face book group for Justice for Biggie

Also a gofundme link is provided to donate towards legal costs as Pat is now putting up a legal battle.
