The Newcastle Knights are a proud club with a passionate fanbase, a rich history, and a legacy built on resilience and excellence. However, under the current leadership of head coach Adam O’Brien, the club has fallen far short of the standards expected by its loyal supporters. This petition calls for the immediate dismissal of O’Brien, in the interest of revitalizing our team and restoring the pride of the red and blue.

Since taking the reins in 2020, Adam O’Brien has had ample time and resources to turn the Knights into a consistent contender. Despite some early signs of promise, the overall trajectory has been one of stagnation, confusion, and underachievement. The team’s playing style lacks identity, the defense is consistently brittle, and the attack remains disjointed and predictable. Player development has plateaued, with talented young prospects failing to reach their potential under his guidance.

In addition, O’Brien’s decision-making has come under repeated scrutiny. Questionable team selections, poor game management, and an apparent lack of tactical adaptability have cost the team dearly in close matches. Time and again, the Knights have shown an inability to compete for the full 80 minutes, which points squarely to coaching shortcomings. The results speak for themselves whilst morale among fans and players alike has visibly declined.

Supporters have stood by this club through thick and thin, but continued loyalty should not be mistaken for blind acceptance of mediocrity. The Newcastle Knights deserve better. The players deserve a coach who can unlock their full potential. And the fans deserve a team that fights with heart, purpose, and direction.

It is time for change. We call upon the Newcastle Knights board and club leadership to make the tough but necessary decision to part ways with Adam O’Brien and begin the search for a coach who can lead this club forward. A new voice, fresh ideas, and a bold vision are urgently needed to restore pride in the jersey.
