Sack Mauricio Pochettino!

The Issue

Coming in as a cult hero from bitter rivals Tottenham, Mauricio Pochettino needed to do something to win the fans over. Let’s look at the facts since he has taken over:

He has totally misprofiled our players. Players like Enzo Fernandez (a deep lying playmaker playing as a shadow striker) Levi Colwill (had an immense season as a CB, has been forced at LB, even when natural LB’s have been fit) Ian Maatsen (had an amazing title winning season at LB, but has been played as a winger and hardly given a chance when all LB’s have been injured) Ben Chilwell at LEFT WING (has been a left back his whole career and as a result reduces the minute Mudryk gets) this also includes in game management of putting Right-Back Malo Gusto at Left Back and slow Centre Back Axel Disasi at right back.

He has his favourites and will refuse to budge regardless how they play. Prime examples; Raheem Sterling and Conor Gallagher. Both started the season off very well and despite a dramatic dip in form, he has refused to move them to the bench, despite them adding absolutely nothing to the team.

Tactics. We’ve seen managers that joined their respective clubs at the same time as Mauricio Pochettino, and have instilled a new philosophy over pre season and have seen improved results and much improved styles of play since. Not with Poch. He found a successful formula in pre season but has since flipped it and we have no tactics at all. We have Caicedo (who was so good at collecting the ball from deep and progressing play) become an advanced midfielder, along with Enzo Fernandez. We rely on the occasional brilliance of Cole Palmer to create something. But our football is passing it across the back 4 constantly. Football is a results driven business and we have somehow stagnated from last season. There is stubbornness with his tactics and after 6 months, we would expect any manager to change something when it’s clearly not working.

I think it is clear to see Pochettino is NOT the right man for the job. Sacking him now before our FA Cup tie and our second leg Semi Final could save our season. It’s imperative we immediately bring someone in that profiles our players correctly and instils a philosophy to get us playing football again, which is surely the bare minimum, right?
