Thanks to all who have signed and shared this petition so far!

One of the trustees on the Board of Education, Meredith Volpe, has reached out the superintendent regarding making these two holidays official days off.

The issue comes from the fact that Sachem follows the Eastern Suffolk BOCES calendar, which does not reserve days off for Eid.

So far, the superintendent is exploring options for the district and researching the ways other districts have incorporated these days off into their calendar.
