Meredith Larsen Volpe, a member of the Sachem School Board, overseeing thousands of students on Long Island, made a deeply offensive and inflammatory post on her Facebook, attacking and smearing the Black Lives Matter movement. In this post, not only did she claim the movement was a Marxist plot, but she also accused BLM protestors of murder without evidence. She then proceeded to say that BLM movement protestors, which include students that she oversees, "can NOT be considered Americans". This post is just the latest in insensitive posts by this school board member, and it is imperative that the rest of the BOE and the district take immediate disciplinary action. At a minimum, the BOE must condemn her statement, and ideally, she should be expelled from the board. She has clearly demonstrated that she is incapable of caring for *all* students, no matter their race or political view, in a diverse district such as Sachem.
