For those who are not aware, the Tanjung Aru Eco Development (TAED) is the largest development plan in Sabah.

This project, although long approved, has not yet started due to a lack of funding. TAED is a privately-run development company linked to the state government.

That is why it is important for Tanjung Aru voters in the recent state election to carefully choose their representative (YB).

Voters should not elect a YB who represents the developer more than the constituents.

Would you want a YB who stands with the people, or with the contractors, when heavy machinery is brought in to clear the beach we are all familiar with?

Tanjung Aru has changed from a quiet beach retreat in the old days to a buzzing tourist destination where visitors seek its world-class beautiful sunset.

While we see many plans to invest in its tourism infrastructure, we have seen no plan to improve its severe traffic congestion and other concerns.

Tanjung Aru voters must have a say in this changing moment and not just leave it to a few people at the top of the government.

While the YB of Tanjung Aru does not decide the development direction of the constituency, they must be the loud voice of the local residents, not the investors.

The TAED development is a good-looking plan on paper, but it does not promise a good-looking future for the people who live and grew up in Tanjung Aru.

The local voters of Tanjung Aru will slowly be forced to move away because the development that is coming is not meant for them.

It is for the rich investors who want to take over the beautiful sunset view and make money for themselves.

The YB of Tanjung Aru must represent the voters, not investors, regardless of whether he is in the government or the opposition.
