Kudos to concerned Sabahans for the overwhelming support in the last 5 days to the online petition calling on the government to Stop Tanjung Aru Eco Development (TAED) project.
We have passed the 25,000 mark. WE can do much better. Let's reach the 35,000 mark!
As we all know, the new Sabah Government has gone against their election promise and decided to continue with the Tanjung Aru Eco Development (TAED) project.
The only change is that they have dropped the word ‘Eco’. This is not acceptable!
The people must demand the new state government to:
1. Repeal and revoke Tanjung Aru Eco Development Local Plan (No Plan: TAED-BM-001/A).
2. Close down and investigate TAED Sdn Bhd’s management and operating expenses, reported by a minister to be in the region of RM 90 million. Make the accounts public.
3. Restore the remaining 42.13 acres of Tanjung Aru foreshore as gazetted under G.N.S 38-63.
4. Create a new gazetted reserve till Jalan Airport Lama including historical rugby field as a new city park that will replace the 42.8 acres land taken over by the state government for the KKIA airport runway expansion since 1970.
5. Rebuild and upgrade Tanjung Aru beach recreational and basic amenities, equal to or better than to those at Taman Teluk Likas.
6. Return the management and upkeep of the park to Kota Kinabalu City Hall (DBKK).
7. Set up an advisory committee consisting of the public (including youths), professionals and NGOs to advise DBKK on the management of the enlarged park, including Prince Philip Park.
These are additional requests the public must make of the new government.
You can do your part by writing a letter to your state and federal representatives enclosing these 7 additional demands together with the previous 8 main demands of this petition.
