A town planner who has over 30 years planning and project management experience in Malaysia and Australia expressed the Memorandum to the Draft TAED Local Plan to DBKK as “ludicrous, stupid and embarrassing”. Quoted from the video released by Young Kota Kinabalu (KK) Professional Group's in their facebook page, he asked why no planner’s name in the plan and continue said, “whoever who did that is insulting you, insulting DBKK, insulting the public and totally is insulting us”. “It is something that should be hidden from you from today and you should even destroy it because it is a very poorly insulting document to the professional town planner”, as he seen talking to the representative and admin staff of TAED in the video at the last day of public consultation. He hope that their planner which were paid by the government using the tax payer money not to take it his comment personally as “It is not a personal thing because it need and this is the process we need to follow here”. The town planner in the video explained that he is not against the development plan at Tg Aru beach and recognize that the public, the people and politician want the area to be developed, but highly against the massive massive land reclamation which actually will destroy the natural beach. “If they want the development to occur, then no one has the right to stand in the way of good development because nobody can say development is good or bad” he said. He also concern that there are not enough risk assessment and risk treatment by the developer to ensure the public confident. “If this done sensitively and right it can be (done)” he said, but insisted that the development not to be expand beyond the natural beach because there will be many issues that need to be address even if many people support it. “I think many people think they know what they doing but i personally will say from what i seen (is) no”, he said. Pointed out that the drawing section, illustration and definition of words displayed at the exhibition, he sees it as totally ridiculous because the only key part of the document is the draft scheme (which is the land use plan). He explained, the artist impression in the animation display which show what can happen and will happen once the place is matured is pointless because according to him, “the memorandum is what all the DBKK officers and Central Board will be using”. “How the land will be release, how it's going to be phase, who is going to build the roads and services and all that, and who's going to build that and how are you going to start getting revenue before you (TAED) move”, he asked the TAED representative. “It is lots of animation lots of thing making out as it will be all hunky dory but i don't believe it will be”, he concluded. ***
