Land of the lustrous or also called Houseki no Kuni was released in 2012 and received an anime adaptation in 2017 by Orange Studio. Since then, almost 7 years have passed without fans receiving any updates on a possible second season and now they are tired. The anime uses crazy and highly advanced CGI that goes very well with the entire concept of the manga. Animated in 2D would not only be more expensive and complicated but it would not even be able to render the glittering effect of the gem well. It's a shame they didn't continue especially because at that moment the manga was starting to reach its most popular moment which if animated would make the studio a lot of money.
