S.O.S — SAVE OLFU STRAYS

The Issue

We, the students of Our Lady of Fatima University and members of OLFU Furry Friends community, are deeply concerned about the recent incident involving the capture and treatment of stray cats and dogs on our school premises. Last Monday, several stray animals were apprehended and taken to a pound, where one particular incident of inhumane treatment, as depicted in a disturbing video, has come to our attention.

We believe that every living being deserves compassion, care, and respect, and it is our responsibility as a compassionate community to protect and provide for those in need, including stray animals. We understand the importance of maintaining a safe and hygienic environment within the school grounds, but there are humane and ethical ways to address the issue of stray animals without resorting to cruelty.

Our petition addresses the following points:

  •   Immediate Investigation: We request a thorough investigation into the incident caught on video, where a stray cat was seen being dragged without mercy. The individuals responsible for this act must be held accountable for their actions.
Implement Humane Capture and Handling Protocols: We urge the school administration to adopt humane and ethical methods for capturing and handling stray animals within the school premises. This may include partnering with local animal welfare organizations or experts who specialize in animal rescue and care.
  • Establish a Stray Animal Rescue Program: We propose the creation of a school-sanctioned program or partnership with local animal shelters to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome stray cats and dogs found on school grounds. Such a program can foster a sense of responsibility, empathy, and care among the students and staff.
  •  Educate the School Community: We advocate for educational programs that raise awareness about the importance of animal welfare and responsible pet ownership. These initiatives can help students and staff understand the needs of stray animals and the significance of treating them with kindness and compassion.
  •  Safe Return of Captured Animals: We request that the stray cats and dogs currently held in the pound be safely returned to a designated animal rescue organization or a properly equipped facility where their needs can be adequately met until they find permanent homes.

We believe that by taking these measures, OUR LADY OF FATIMA ANTIPOLO can become an example of compassion and responsible stewardship, fostering a more empathetic and caring community for all living beings.

We, the students, hereby express our strong support for this petition and kindly request a prompt response from the school administration regarding the actions taken in response to our concerns.

Sincerely,

OLFU FURRY FRIENDS (Antipolo)
