Hello Campaigners

Delighted to report that the S.O.B.B campaign was featured in the excellent and keenly read Prufrock column in The Sunday Times Business section yesterday.

This is edited by the equally excellent and even keener Chief Business Correspondent Will Turvill, an up-and-coming young Turk who cut his teeth writing for the newspapers' trade bible Press Gazette, a magazine that I have much-admired (and over-contributed to) over the years.

Turvill has revealed that many other notable personalities have signed the petition and joined the campaign to stop this monstrous development. These include TV Burp star Harry Hill, actress Miriam Margolyes, Leopold and Debonnaire Von Bismarck, and Eddie Redmayne's mum Patricia. All are locals in one direction or another to Battersea. It is worth noting that none of these (except, erm, maybe Harry) were cajoled into signing by me. They made the move independently. My sincere thanks to them ALL.

Turvill has also noted my wish to engage Sir Norman Foster in this campaign. The global corporate HQ for Sir Norman's little architecture practice Foster + Partners is based in Hester Road, which is in the shadow of Cerberus's hellish high hopes. Sir Norman was a long-time resident nearby, where he owned a formidable luxurious penthouse.

This all presents an interesting dilemma right on Normski's beat.

I wrote to Baron Foster of Thames Bank, for it is he, last week via his press officer Katy Harris. No reply yet, but I will be chasing one down today. And I will not rest until I get one.

I expect that Sir Norman is unlikely to engage with this campaign because his company has enjoyed many fruits from building towers over the decades. But you never know. We shall see.

In other news, the planning committee at Wandsworth Council has confirmed to me that a new deadline for submissions and comments is now 31st August

I will probably be on my yacht for most of the next two months, but I intend to continue haranguing all and sundry in-between ocean fly-bys on my new Chanel liveried Fliteboard. As one does.

All up-dates and news will be posted by me first on X

Regards

RMc

The up-date was amended after learning that Sir Norman probably sold his penthouse many years ago to move to Switzerland
