Hello Campaigners
This is Lombard Wharf at night. This building rests besides Cremorne Bridge in Battersea (that's the railway one between Clapham Junction and Imperial Wharf stations).
Lombard was waved through in 2015 by Wandsworth Council, yet no questions seem to have been asked about the illumination of the exterior balconies of the building. Why allow a tower to be lit up in its entirety like this, so it can leave such a striking "light print" across the river at night?
Lombard is 28 storeys and has 134 flats and was completed in 2017. I have no information yet on the net result for "affordable housing".
I post this picture simply to pose the question: What on earth would be the light print from the One Battersea Bridge development across the west and east of the bridge? None of the promotional images I have seen so far from Rockwell and Promontoria provide an illustration of this. Maybe I have missed them, or maybe they don't want us to know.
One thing's for sure, the light from such a grotesque tower will stretch right across the river and possibly close to Albert Bridge. Whistler's easel would tremble at the thought of a new frame of his Nocturne: Blue and Gold - Old Battersea Bridge.
