Jersey Channel Islands, Prevent Discrimination against families when renting Stop“no kids”

The Issue

Families with children need stability and a stable home life. Sadly, it is common practice for rental properties to state "no children" and this is preventing families from the basic need of a stable family home. This is particularly prevalent in the 'unqualified' sector but is also present in the 'qualified/licenced' sector too. In my opinion in Jersey families are being forced into homelessness or constant moving mode as a direct result of what I feel is discriminatory behaviour against families.
Have you or someone you know struggled to get decent accommodation? Have you or someone you know faced homelessness or had to move many times due to the "no children" ban? Have you or someone you know at any point had to fit into a 1 bedroom or studio apartment because 2/3 beds do not allow children? If you have been affected or know someone who has been affected please sign this petition. The States of Jersey are debated in March 2018 bringing in law to prevent landlords refusing to rent to families with children. As yet it is now 1 year later and no law has been written or enforced. Many rental properties and rental agents still advertise “no kids” on rental properties. This problem is still a major issue for many in Jersey Channel Islands. This continued discrimination against women/children/families should not be allowed to continue! This law to prevent such Discrimination was in place in UK over 10 years and in USA over 50 years ago. In Jersey Channel Islands just a year ago they signed up after a number of child scandals in Jersey to a pledge to “put children first”! Well allowing children and families to be able to have a stable home life is crucial to any mantra of “putting children first”. By continuing to do nothing to enforce this or continuing to not immediately write the law and enforce it ensures the government of Jersey are not putting children first and are continuing to allow this disgusting discrimination against women, children and families! Let's show Jersey every child deserves the basic right of a stable family home. Let’s finally act to “put children first”

Get the law written and incorporated or added to the present discrimination laws NOW immediately!
Enforce the law that was passed to be introduced NOW immediately!
It is disgusting that families are still having to put up with this one year on from debate being passed! 10 years behind UK laws... 50 years behind USA laws... still Jersey Channel Islands government have not written the law or introduced it!

I have experienced the discrimination against women children and families while trying to rent a stable family home in Jersey Channel Islands whereby they allow many many rental properties to say “no kids” especially two and three bed properties meant for families many (close to circa 90%) of family properties in early 2017/2018 said “no kids”. This clearly still continues and has not been resolved. The law got debated and passed but still has not been written and enforced!
