Why this petition matters

Started by Sid Srivastava

Rutgers University has a long history of screwing over their students, and their recent COVID announcement is no exception. They now plan to move spring move-in back two weeks for the majority of students living on campus. This is blatantly just Rutgers trying to cut costs without any regard for the mental health of students, as it doesn’t fall in line with the public health guidances of either the CDC of NJ Department of health. When schools across New Jersey are opening in person, why does Rutgers not have the ability to? Especially when over 99% of the student population is protected by the vaccine?Instead of putting in the effort of having comprehensive testing protocols, Rutgers wants to take the easy way out and just delay opening a few weeks so it can SEEM like they’re doing something. If they really cared though, wouldn’t they reduce the capacity at basketball games? The reality is that Rutgers doesn’t care about public health or the mental health of its students, it only cares about saving money while maintaining revenue. The students need to show Rutgers that they will not sit idly by and let this happen. Please sign this petition to show that we demand Rutgers Residence halls open up as originally planned!
