Our petition got the attention of Russian Pointe, but there are still other pointe shoe brands out there who have not made the commitment for change; one being Suffolk Dance LLC. 

Pointe shoes are different from what dancers would call “street” shoes. Unlike a tennis shoe, flat, or heel, you cannot always go to a different brand to find an equally good shoe. Each brand is known for it’s unique design. Each shoe is specialized for a certain type of foot (what shape their toes make, how strong their foot is, how wide, etc.) as well as what type of performance they are best for (hopping en pointe, jumping, turns and sustained movement en point etc.). For one pointe shoe company to hold back means that the whole market is inequitable.
