The Buffalo Sabres wore beautiful royal blue and gold home/away sweaters from their inception in 1970 to 1996. There were no major changes during that time because there was never a need for it. A clean and simple look from beginning to end.

Since 1996, though, there have been several follies from the decision makers on the look of the Sabres:

-The Adelphia Sabres from 1996-2006.

-The Buffalo Slugs from 2006-2010.

-The decision to add piping, grey and a darker shade of blue to the color scheme.

-The "Turdburger" (as described by former Sabres' President Ted Black) from 2013-2015.

It's time to right these wrongs and go back to the simple yet perfect look of the early years. A new era of hockey is underway in Buffalo. Make what's old new again. Give the fans what they want when adidas takes over as the official uniform provider in 2017-18. The current jerseys are still among the best in the league, but it's just a bit off from where it could be if royal were the primary blue.
