Yesterday, Leo Docherty, MP for Aldershot, was promoted to be Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Defence People and Veterans - so now he is in the position to help the Gurkhas with their Pension issues.

Last week, Rushmoor Borough Council Leader Councillor David Clifford refused a Labour Group proposal to  have a Motion at the Council Meeting tomorrow evening to support the request of the British Gurkha Welfare Society (BGWS), based in Farnborough, for a House of Commons Select Committee to establish an Inquiry on these issues as a matter of urgency.

Cllr Clifford told meetings with Gurkha organisations that they had his support and that his approach - to write to Leo Docherty MP - was the best way forward. 

Leo Docherty MP is now in a position to resolve the Gurkha issues and he should do so as a matter of urgency.
