Rushmoor Borough Council officers have refused a Motion to support the request of the British Gurkha Welfare Society (BGWS), based in Farnborough, for a House of Commons Select Committee to establish an Inquiry on Gurkha Pensions as a matter of urgency.
“I was disappointed by their decision,” said the Proposer, Councillor Alex Crawford.
“They claimed that the Motion was out of order because it was not within the Council’s powers or duties to support the request of the BGWS.
“However, this does not mean that I will give up the battle for Gurkha Veterans to obtain Equal Pensions,” said Cllr Crawford.
“Over 140,000 people have viewed this Petition. Also, supporters have chipped in £250 to spread the word about the campaign for Gurkha Veterans to have Equal Pensions.”
