Rushmoor Borough Council are proposing to close the outdoor pool at the Lido in Aldershot and replace it by a Splash Park.  This means that there will be no outdoor swimming in the Summer in  Aldershot. The Splash Park is made up of fountains and is suitable for younger children, but would not attract older children or adults for swimming on a sunny day.

Rushmoor claim that the Lido costs too much money, but they are proposing to spend millions on a facility which no-one has asked for and which, in other areas, is provided free.  Rushmoor is proposing to charge at least  an £8 entrance fee for this!

The Lido in Aldershot is one of the few remaining 1930s outdoor swimming pools in the South of England. It could do with a bit of up-dating and a small splash park would be a useful addition, but not at the expense of closing the swimming pool.

Think again Rushmoor - and don't close the Lido!
