We call For Rushcliffe Borough Council to give Cotgrave Precinct a full and complete redevelopment and not a meer refurbishment of cladding and a lick of paint!
The Issue
Rushcliffe Borough Council need to take into account the opinion of the people of Cotgrave on the redevelopment of Cotgrave Precinct.
News was released on Friday 12th June 2015 stating that the envisaged Supermarket for the Precinct would not go ahead. This has angered and disappointed residents.
Rushcliffe Borough Council are still considering their options for the redevelopment of the Precinct with either a refresh or a complete redevelopment.
However Rushcliffe Borough Council needs to remember they commissioned a report in 2007 (The Cotgrave Regeneration Strategy Report) which stated “The town centre is disconnected from the rest of Cotgrave, not because of its central location but its poor design, reputation for crime and visual unattractiveness. The centre turns its back on the town, fails to maximise the potential linkages between the residential areas of the town, shops and the nearby public services. This has a negative impact on community cohesion and vibrancy.” A point that has been reiterated by Rushcliffe Borough Council many times.
Rushcliffe Borough Council has promised a complete redevelopment of Cotgrave’s Precinct - Rushcliffe Borough Council Corporate Strategy – 2012-2016 - Proactively Preparing for the Future stated “In Cotgrave, we have taken this one step further and undertaken a complete master-planning exercise with the local community that has resulted in a large scale regeneration project to revitalise the community including new housing and employment on the colliery site, and a complete redevelopment of the town centre.”
We the undersigned who either live in Cotgrave or use Cotgrave Precinct call upon Rushcliffe Borough Council to honour it’s promise and give Cotgrave what it deserves, a full and complete redevelopment of Cotgrave’s Precinct and not a meer refurbishment of cladding and a lick of paint!
