Stop Rushcliffe Borough Council from fining homeless people under the new protection order

Rushcliffe Borough Council's use of the 'Public Space Protection Orders' will allow fines to be issued to persons sleeping rough if their behavior is deemed 'antisocial' in some way. They will first receive a £100 fixed penalty notice, which if left unpaid can result in a fine of up to £1000.
The BBC has reported that Rosie Brighouse, legal officer for Liberty, said PSPOs are "blunt instruments prone to misuse".
The PSPO will criminalize antisocial behaviors associated with homelessness, such as not having somewhere to go to the toilet in the middle of the night. Many anti social behaviors exhibited by homeless people have multiple underlying causes and fining them for having these issues will not help them nor will it will stop these individuals from being homeless. Fining them and making them feel unwelcome will simply move the issue of homelessness into another area. This method has no place in Nottinghamshire and will not help homeless people and so needs to be stopped immediately.
Previous petitions have been successful in multiple Council areas in England.
