“We Won’t Cross” RUSD parents pledge to strike if teachers strike.

“We Won’t Cross” RUSD parents pledge to strike if teachers strike.
The Issue
Dear RUSD Parents,
Are you an RUSD parent who supports our teachers and their right to fair workloads and fair pay?
From what we are hearing, the teachers are facing a tough decision to strike. That decision will be discussed this Friday at the RTPA meeting.
A small group of elementary school parents are speaking up to support the teachers in the event of a strike. We are letting teachers know that, “We Won’t Cross” -in support, we will not cross the picket line. We have decided to keep our kids out of class during the strike. This is a tactical decision. As you all may know, the district loses money for each child that does not attend school on any given day.
If you want to stand with teachers and teach your children a valuable life lesson about fair treatment, you may want to consider joining us. (We understand this may not be possible for our High School students).
RUSD parents have felt saddened and powerless during this unsettling time. This will be an empowering way to connect, pressure the district and to show support for our teachers.
Truly,
Tami Seigal

PS Please share this with any other parents who you think would support the ‘we won’t cross’ movement.
